LETTER FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT

As summer is rapidly winding down, many of you have concerns about the re-opening of our schools in mid-August. We are working on the back-to-school plan for Winters ISD that will provide the safest environment we can offer for all staff and students. I have been working with our administrative team to make sure we provide a safe environment for students, staff, and parents. To implement the plan, it is going to take cooperation and understanding from everyone because this is a fluid situation that can and probably will change.
Plans are being made for a remote learning option (synchronous and/or asynchronous) as well as in-person classes, in accordance with the guidance recently released by the Texas Education Agency. Parents can choose the option they determine to be best for their child. Both options will have new guidelines, expectations for daily attendance, and will operate with the same types of work and grading system (numeric grade scale) for the students. The best option is the high-quality instruction provided by our outstanding teachers while our students are in class, but these challenging times may require us to do things a little differently.
Our plans regarding a safe school environment will follow the requirements from the Centers for Diseases Control (CDC), State Health Department (DSHS), the Texas Education Agency (TEA), University Interscholastic League (UIL), and other local agencies. We are ordering safety supplies and materials that we need to keep everyone safe. Our goal is to make the buses, our cafeteria, classrooms, hallways, and entrances as safe as we can. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this unprecedented time that we are all having to face.

Winters ISD Parents and Guardians,
Please find attached a very short survey for all parents/guardians of school-aged children to complete by July 29th. The survey responses will be used to better help us serve your child(ren) for the 2020-2021 school year. There are questions on the survey about your internet, your thoughts for the upcoming school year, and what you’d like to see from Winters ISD. During this time of uncertainty, we want to make things as good as we can for our students (and parents). We know that the spring was rough for many and we are diligently working to make everyone’s return to school great! We are ready to see the kids and get the Blizzards back together!
