As summer is rapidly winding down, many of you have concerns about the re-opening of our schools in mid-August. We are working on the back-to-school plan for Winters ISD that will provide the safest environment we can offer for all staff and students. I have been working with our administrative team to make sure we provide a safe environment for students, staff, and parents. To implement the plan, it is going to take cooperation and understanding from everyone because this is a fluid situation that can and probably will change.

Plans are being made for a remote learning option (synchronous and/or asynchronous) as well as in-person classes, in accordance with the guidance recently released by the Texas Education Agency. Parents can choose the option they determine to be best for their child. Both options will have new guidelines, expectations for daily attendance, and will operate with the same types of work and grading system (numeric grade scale) for the students. The best option is the high-quality instruction provided by our outstanding teachers while our students are in class, but these challenging times may require us to do things a little differently.

Our plans regarding a safe school environment will follow the requirements from the Centers for Diseases Control (CDC), State Health Department (DSHS), the Texas Education Agency (TEA), University Interscholastic League (UIL), and other local agencies. We are ordering safety supplies and materials that we need to keep everyone safe. Our goal is to make the buses, our cafeteria, classrooms, hallways, and entrances as safe as we can. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this unprecedented time that we are all having to face.

Please find attached a very short survey for all parents/guardians of school-aged children to complete by July 29th.  The survey responses will be used to better help us serve your child(ren) for the 2020-2021 school year.  There are questions on the survey about your internet, your thoughts for the upcoming school year, and what you’d like to see from Winters ISD.  During this time of uncertainty, we want to make things as good as we can for our students (and parents).  We know that the spring was rough for many and we are diligently working to make everyone’s return to school great!  We are ready to see the kids and get the Blizzards back together!

Summer Meals


Parents and Educators: The Texas Department of Agriculture is offering no cost meals this summer for children 18 and younger, and enrolled students with disabilities up to 21 years old through its Summer Meal Programs!

Starting: June 1st thru July 9th


Breakfast served: 7:30 am to 8:30 am

Lunch served:  11 am to 12 pm

Curbside in between Elementary & Cafeteria

Please make arrangements to drop off your student's device and charger to us during the following times.

High School & Junior High

Wednesday, May 20th
10:00 am - 12:00 pm
5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Thursday, May 21st
10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Elementary School

Thursday, May 21st
5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

This will be conducted as a drive-through check-in.  Please do not park or leave your vehicle as you wait.  Our staff will collect the device at the vehicle and request the student's name that matches the device and charger to be documented.

Coronavirus - April 7 update

Our first day of Delivery Only went really, really well! We’ve had a few people ask if there’s anything they can do to help so this is all we are asking! Because we are delivering in excess of 400 meals per day please be ready to meet your delivery person @ the car, driveway, or door!

2.  If no one is home to accept meals for 2 days in a row you will need to call to enroll again. Due to health guidelines meals must be delivered in a timely manner.

3. If anyone in your house is sick, let them know where to leave your meals so they don’t come within 6ft of you!
4.  Please have your dogs put up, or let them know to honk so nobody gets bitten.

Coronavirus - April 2 update

Parents of WISD,

Though we are apart right now for our health and safety, we at WISD continue to support each other as a community, and right now we must work together to fight COVID-19.  In order to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, DISTRICT will be reaching out to you via email, phone, text message, and social media over the next two weeks to share vitally important guidance. 

This guidance is based on what scientists know about how to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and it is our hope that you will do what you can to follow these practices and share them with your friends and family. 

Thank you for all you are doing to educate your children at home and all the efforts you’re making to keep your family healthy and safe. We know this is a difficult time. If we stand apart as a community during this stretch and continue following the public health practices we will be sharing over the coming days, we will be back together soon.

Coronavirus - march 31 update

Governor Abbott has closed all schools until May 4, 2020.  We will continue our model of home-based instruction during this time.  Please stay in close contact with your child’s teachers to ensure they complete required assignments and stay caught up.

We will continue to provide breakfast and lunch Monday-Fridays.  On Monday, April 6th, we will move to deliver ONLY model.  We will no longer have the drive by pick-up meal option.  Please email your address and the number of children ages 1-18 in your home to June Watson,, to ensure your meals are delivered.
