Winters Independent School District

Kathy Horner

Superintendent

It is an honor but also humbling to accept the position of Superintendent in Winters ISD.  I am truly blessed to have this opportunity to serve the Winters Independent School District and community.

My journey has probably been a little different from the traditional route.  My educational journey in public schools began in Ozona through 4th grade and then Sheffield-Iraan to complete the requirements to graduate.  The next stop on my journey was at Abilene Christian University where I received both my undergraduate and Master’s Degrees.  Prior to my experiences in public education, I was exposed to teaching from both my parents.  They taught Bible classes and I remember helping my mom in the nursery, toddler classes and even teen classes as I grew older.  That is where my love of teaching truly began.

It is my belief that establishing a culture of collaboration between students, parents, teachers, administrators, staff and the Winters Community is vital to obtain and sustain successful outcomes for our students.  It is my goal to strive daily to instill a sense of well being and intentional growth in myself, our staff and our students and to be a lifelong educator who partners with parents, students, fellow educators, community members, my family members, my church family, universities and professional educational organizations to grow the human capital within the educational framework.  After spending three plus decades working in education and learning from the ground up through failures and successes,  I am hopeful that I can truly drive conversations with all stakeholders through servant leadership.  How well you connect with the community you serve and communicate with them is critical to positive school outcomes for our staff and students.
