Principal - Carrie McWhorter

It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself as your Elementary Principal for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. My name is Carrie McWhorter, and I am dedicated to serving the Winters Elementary community. With 25 years of experience in education, I am committed to ensuring the best possible outcomes for our students. I hold a strong belief in the importance of providing a nurturing and enriching environment for all. As an alumna of San Angelo State and Sul Ross University, I am deeply committed to fostering a culture of learning and growth at Winters Elementary School. Outside of the school, I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren, embracing the serenity of the lake, and embarking on adventures to new destinations. I am a lifelong learner, and it is my aspiration to inspire every student at Winters Elementary to strive for excellence. I am truly honored to have the opportunity to support and guide your child's educational journey. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or require assistance. I am here to serve and support you. Here's to a successful and rewarding school year.

Sincerely,

Dean of Students- Christy Oats

I am a proud Blizzard from the WHS class of ’97 and I have dedicated my career to serving the students and families of Winters ISD. Earning a Master’s in Education Administration enables me to further invest my heart, energy, and leadership in the same community that helped shape me.

For the past eight years, I have been an educator at Winters Elementary, where I have worked closely with students, teachers, and families to foster a love for learning and build a strong foundation for student success. My passion for education and commitment to growth continue to guide me in my roles as 4th grade mathematics teacher and Dean of Students.

I am also a proud mom of two Winters Blizzards—Brady (WHS ’16) and Dayvin (WHS ’22)—and I treasure the experience of raising my sons in such a close-knit, supportive town. I love being an active member of my community and find great joy in watching my students thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Deeply rooted in Winters, I believe that education extends far beyond academics. I strive every day to build meaningful relationships, encourage lifelong learning, and ensure that every student feels valued, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.
