Come and join our Winters FFA Alumni for their 1st meeting for the 2022-2023 year!! "We will be holding a meeting August 23 @ 8:30pm in the Ag class room. The meeting will be right after the Winters Jr Livestock meeting. We will be voting new officers in for the 2022/2023 year. The topics that will discussed will be fundraisers for the year and people working the Winters Dove Fest and Blizzards Homecoming meal. Everyone is welcome to join and be apart of this great organization that benefits our kids that are in ag mechanics/shop at WISD. The money that is made throughout the year helps go towards items that the kids need in the welding shop. So please show up and be apart of the Winters FFA Alumni and Supporters. If you would like to become a member of the Winters FFA Alumni and Supporters, you will need to bring $20.00 to the meeting on Tuesday."

🌎WE ARE WORLD CHANGERS🌎 Our Pre-K-5th elementary art classes created unique handprints, cut them out, and we have displayed them in our hallway as a reminder that they each have something that the world needs. #whywinterstx

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) released district accountability ratings on Monday and Winters ISD is at the top, receiving an “A” rating and 9 distinction designations! This was an amazing accomplishment achieved by students and staff after coming out of quarantine and addressing the gaps in learning brought on after school closed in the spring of 2020. The last accountability rating received from TEA was in 2019, when WISD received a “B” rating, with 3 distinction designations. Here are the 2022 scores from each campus: Winters Elementary - “A”, 90 overall score; Winters Junior High - “B”, 86 overall score; Winters High School – “B”, 86 overall score, and WISD – “A”, with a 90 overall score. Every score is an improvement from 2019’s results, with the greatest gains taking place in our junior high. In 2019 Winters Junior High was placed on the improvement required (IR) designation list from TEA for scoring a “F”, and a 55 overall score. There were extreme gains achieved in all categories, from 2019’s “F” junior high campus rating to 2022’s “B” campus rating. If you would like to see the more detailed breakdowns of how WISD did at the campus and district levels, you may view at www.txschools.gov. We still have room to grow and will continue to work hard to make WISD one of the best small schools in west Texas. Congratulations to all students and staff of WISD for putting the “WIN” back in Winters! #whywinterstx

Parents, WISD was voluntarily placed into “Secure” mode at approximately 11:25 AM this morning. Secure means that we had all students locked inside of our buildings until we received word from Police Chief Guyer that it was okay for students and staff of WISD to resume normal activities. Out of an abundance of caution we went into this measure to ensure the safety of everyone when WISD officials received word that someone had been shot towards Novice. Students were secured in our buildings for about 15 minutes, until the all clear was received from our local law enforcement. Students and staff were not in danger, we were just being cautious. If you should have any further questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact Sean Leamon at 325-754-5574. We hope that everyone has a great weekend!
